Nordic Pole Walking

Come out and join our trained Nordic Pole Walking Instructors as they take you on a 30-45 minute walk around the neighbourhood. Participants will be shown how to properly use the poles and will be taken through a series of warm-ups before starting the walk. Please bring your own poles if you have them, we have a few poles that can be borrowed for the duration of the program and will be sanitized before and after each class. Spring Into the Garden – In Person

Whether you have never planted a seed or you consider yourself a master veggie gardener, come join Adam in the CHC Sharing Garden to help prepare this year’s growing season. Over the course of a number of dates, we will clean up from winter, prepare and amend the soil with our homegrown compost, start sowing spring crops and finally, transplanting our veggie starters! This group is meant for anyone looking to get their hands dirty, learn a few things around the garden, share some knowledge, and most importantly, work and have fun together! Participants limited (10 people) and ideally, you are interested in/able to attend all or most of the sessions. Just the Basics – Virtual

Have you been recently diagnosed with prediabetes or diabetes? This workshop, now being done virtually over Zoom, includes a discussion of the basic facts about managing diabetes, healthy eating, and physical activity. You can participate in this workshop with a phone, tablet/iPad or computer. All we require is your email address to get you signed up! Virtual Northumberland Diabetes Expo

The Diabetes Expo will take place on Tuesday May 10th from 10:30am-1pm over Zoom. Register for our Virtual Expo!  Click here! We are planning to make this year’s event more interactive with breakout rooms so clients can send in their questions in advance to “Ask the Experts” (send questions to [email protected]) . We will have one of our wonderful volunteers doing a Movement Break and then we will have our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Jeremy Gilbert- Endocrinologist from Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre talking about “Diabetes Management: Why do we need so many medications?”.

Community Dietitian Talks

Join Adam our Community Dietitian for some free virtual interactive and engaging discussions. Summer salads: Join Adam to explore a variety of salad recipes that will set you up for the summer season. Whether it be for a picnic, an outdoor gathering, or a weeknight BBQ, these recipes will be the star of the meal! Mental Well-Being Educational Workshop Series

Join our Social Worker, Pam and Social Work Student, Em to learn about coping with stress and anxiety and to explore self-care strategies. Coping with Stress: This workshop will define and help you understand what stress is, how stress affects our bodies, and explore healthy coping strategies to manage our stress. Thursday, May 26th 2022 | 1 pm to 3 pm | via Zoom Coping with Anxiety: This workshop will discuss anxiety, causes and signs of anxiety, and explore ways to cope with anxiety to enhance our health and wellbeing.
