Nourishing people—and dignity. Because food is foundational to health—and choice matters.
CHCN’s food security programs include a shopping model food bank, affordable Food Markets, a Sharing Garden, and community meals. These programs address hunger while also building skills, confidence, and community connection. The CHCN has pledged to purchase a variety of fresh produce and lean proteins every week to offer in our weekly food cupboard to help supplement the staples we already offer.
Your donation helps ensure families, seniors, and individuals can access healthy, affordable food—while also supporting education, sustainability, and local food systems.
Once thought of as a “blue sky idea” – the CHCN is excited to announce that our very own ‘Community Food Market’ is up and running!
The food market is offered weekly in the south entrance of the CHCN every Thursday afternoon from 1pm-4pm.
Our market coordinator we will be offering local produce and food products to the community at a reduced cost. Available produce, meats and CHC soups change weekly. By purchasing directly from local farmers, working with product that is in season, and from financial support, we are able to offer foods at a lower cost to help community members stretch their food dollars a little bit further.
All funds generated from this market will be put back into our food security programming to continue to develop our services. For anyone who would like to support the sustainability of this project, we of course are happy to accept any donations – whether it be financial support or some delicious produce from your garden!
We are very appreciative of the positive response we are receiving from the community and thankful to our local farmers for partnering with us to make this inclusive market a reality.
This market is open to all community members.
For any questions, or for any farmers or food producers looking to work with us, please feel free to contact Joelle, Market Coordinator by email: [email protected]
