Summer Programs

Plants to Plates

This summer program is offered to ages 7 to 10. Plants to Plates is a food education program for children which was developed by the Ecology Action Centre. This program takes a “Plants to Plates” approach, pairing kitchen skill building with garden activities and making connections between how food is grown and how to prepare nutritious, tasty meals.

Our Plants to Plates program is based on an optional pay-what-you-can model. A suggested donation amount for the full series is $40 for those looking for a ballpark amount, however the amount is truly what you can afford to pay, whatever that is $0, $5 or $40.

Donations can be made by cash, cheque or online. As a non-profit organization, these payments will go back into the programs towards the cost of supplies to ensure that the space and programs are as accessible as possible. Please remember donations (while much appreciated) are NOT mandatory. We never want finances to be a reason that someone cannot participate in our programming.

Cheques can be made to “CHCN” or “Community Health Centres of Northumberland”

We also have an online payment option through a secure third-party domain, Canada Helps, available through our website: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/m/35911 where you can select “Child and Youth Programming” from the drop-down menu. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20+
