Description
These savoury white bean burgers are an easy, affordable alternative to traditional burgers, packed with protein, fibre, and flavour. Made with simple pantry ingredients, herbs, and melted cheese, they cook up golden and crispy on the outside while staying tender on the inside. Serve them on a bun with your favourite toppings or enjoy them on their own for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup shredded cheese
- 1 15-oz. can white navy beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs OR 3-4 crackers, crushed/smashed into crumbs
- 1 large egg
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp dried Italian herb mixture (or any dried herbs you prefer)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Mash with a fork or potato mashed until a rough paste is formed.
- With wet hands, form the bean mixture into four 3/4-inch-thick patties. Put onto a plate, cover, and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
- Heat a frying pan on medium heat, about 1 minute. Add a tsp of oil or butter and swirl to coat the bottom. Cook the burgers, flipping once, until browned, about 4-5 mins per side.
