The CHCN will continue to see clients at the centre on an as required basis as determined by their health care provider. The CHCN will also continue to provide services at a distance through telephone appoinments, video conference and virtual programs.

Please note that everyone that does enter our building must be screened and wear a mask, unless they are medically unable or under the age of 2.

Please do not arrive early for your appointment as we can only allow a limited number of individuals into the building at a time.

Hours of operation:

Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm

Dental Services

Please be advised that we are making temporary changes to the dental clinic. Given the recent increase of COVID cases, and the need to reduce as much in person contact as possible at the Centre, we are decreasing our dental services to emergency procedures only. This change will take effect April 19, 2021. Going forward the clinic will be open Mondays and Fridays for emergency appointments only until further notice. If you have a scheduled  appointment, our staff will be in touch with you to notify you of the changes. Please understand that we are doing this in the best interest of you, our staff and in support of the overall effort in reducing the number of COVID cases in our area.

The Centre will be monitoring this situation closely and we look forward to the day when we can commence to provide our full set of dental services. We apologize for the inconvenience and want to thank you for your understanding and ongoing support. We are all in this together!

As an approved site for providing services to recipients of the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP) the CHCN Dental office has been renovated to improve access to our clients.

Our operations will continue and we will be screening all clients and will continue to work with our safety protocols to ensure the safety of all.

Please continue to call 905-885-2626 ext. 208 to leave a message for one of our staff who will return your call as soon as possible.

Harm Reduction Supplies

The Community Health Centres of Northumberland is a safe needle exchange site and partners with the HKPR Public Health Harm Reduction Works (Needle Exchange/Safer Inhalation Program).

Harm reduction is a set of practical strategies that meet people “where they’re at” in an effort to reduce negative consequences of drug and/or alcohol use. Needle exchange sites are one example of harm reduction.

Our site supplies new, sterile equipment including needles, pipes, spoons, ties, filters, swabs, water, and Vitamin C.  We also provide a safe environment to exchange used drug equipment (works).

When arriving at the Centre, please inform our front desk you would like to access harm reduction supplies and they will assist you directly or connect you with a staff member to help provide you with supplies.

To reduce the risk of overdose do not use drugs alone, and pick up one of our free naloxone kits at our Centre.

Overdose symptoms include:

  • blue lips or nails
  • dizziness and confusion
  • can’t be woken up
  • choking, gurgling or snoring sounds
  • slow, weak or no breathing
  • drowsiness or difficulty staying awake

If you are using drugs, please do so safely:

  • Never use drugs alone. Use with other people, but NOT at the exact same time.
  • Start with smaller amounts than usual.
  • Have naloxone (NARCAN®) ready – an overdose occurs quickly.
  • Call 911 if you suspect the person is overdosing.
  • Stay with the person until help arrives.

Naloxone Kits

The Community Health Centres of Northumberland offers Naloxone kits free of charge.  Please speak with one of our medical secretaries at the front desk, who will assist you in meeting with a trained staff member to explain the proper use of the kits.
