Description
The Community Health Centres of Northumberland (CHCN) is a non-profit, community-governed organization that provides primary health care, diabetes education, mental health counseling, health promotion, and community development services using inter-disciplinary teams of health care providers.
The CHCN has an opening for the position of part-time Contract Medical Receptionist. The Medical Receptionist provides general reception and clerical support to the staff and programs of the Centre.
Responsibilities
- Providing reception services for the Centre as a first point of contact, creating a welcoming environment to people who are coming to the CHCN
- Greeting clients and guests both in person and over the telephone
Responding to general inquiries, acquiring services for patients, (i.e. calling taxis and making referrals to other agencies) - Answering incoming telephone calls, screening and directing calls, booking appointments and directing calls accordingly
- Checking clients into the computer system when they arrive for appointments, rebooking appointments as needed
- Ensuring voicemail messages are retrieved from the general delivery mailbox and follow up done
- Administrative tasks to include: web-faxing, photocopying, opening and distributing mail in a timely fashion, and other general administrative tasks
Experience
- Grade 12 diploma with two to five years demonstrated experience in a reception role, preferably in a medical setting
- Experience working with disenfranchised or vulnerable populations would be an asset
- Experience in a fast-paced environment with a proven ability to multitask
- Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all matters
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications, experience with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) would be considered an asset
