Job Summary:
We are seeking an innovative, highly motivated and energetic team player to join our progressive interdisciplinary team. The Screener is responsible for managing and directing all incoming traffic to the Centre and providing support to the Centre’s COVID-19 Screening and Assessment protocols. In doing so, the Screener will greet people entering the building, initiate and assist with COVID-19 screening assessments, ensure physical distancing and health hygiene precautions for COVID-19 are being followed, and direct traffic as needed. The Screener works collaboratively with the Primary Care and Community Health Care teams to complement the work being done to adhere to Public Health and Occupational Health and Safety standards and regulations.
Accountability: This position is accountable to the Primary Care Team lead.
Responsibilities:
- Greet all incoming staff, clients, guests and community partners as they enter the building
- Using Ministry of Health approved COVID-19 screening tool, screen individuals at point of entry – including the completion of screening questionnaire and obtaining temperature reading. Training will be provided.
- Liaise with CHCN staff about screening outcomes (if positive COVID-19 screen)
- Direct all incoming traffic and advise clients of the process and procedures in building
- Ensure and/or assist clients, partners, guests to don/doff masks (providing mask when necessary)
- Provide information and assistance to clients and guests
- Liaise with Medical Secretaries and other staff to ensure clear communication re: people-flow in building to ensure physical distancing
- Help to promote recommended hand hygiene practice
- Track Personal Protective Equipment usage and report daily usage to Primary Care Team Lead
- Comply with agency policies, standards, guidelines and procedures
- Help evaluate the process to ensure the safety of all entering the building
- Present a friendly, patient, positive attitude toward clients, guests, partners and staff
- Other duties as required, which may include Infection Prevention and Control measures or general administrative tasks related to screening
Experience
Qualifications:
- Customer service skills a definite asset
- Experience in a community setting or health setting an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong decision-making skills
- Possess the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (mask, face shield, gloves and gown) for the duration of the shift is required
- Ethical understanding of confidentiality and privacy of patient information
- Demonstrates understanding and acceptance of diverse populations
- Demonstrates understanding of marginalized communities and health needs
- Must be open-minded and non-judgmental
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including prolonged standing or sitting
- Willing to work flexible hours
- Police clearance documentation will be required for employment
Salary: $18 per hour
